Dear visitors,

Welcome to the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site! Our porter teams and the staff at the Ruhr Visitor Center in the coal washing plant and at the information points will be happy to answer any questions you may have. They will also provide you with information material and guidance.

As the owner, the Zollverein Foundation has the task of preserving the Zollverein World Heritage Site and making it accessible to visitors. Please note that the entire site is private property. To ensure that your visit is as pleasant as possible, please observe the following instructions:

Your safety

The Zollverein World Heritage Site is a former industrial site with typical railroad tracks, stairways and pipe floors. Despite safety precautions and regular checks, we cannot guarantee complete safety on the paths and squares due to the constant need for maintenance and construction work and the associated construction site traffic. Therefore, please keep an eye out for potholes, possible unevenness and tripping hazards.

Against this background, we ask for your understanding that the Zollverein Foundation accepts no liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by simple negligence. Entering and driving on the World Heritage Site is at your own risk. We ask you to pay particular attention when leaving the paved paths.

Fenced-off areas may not be entered as there is a danger to life. Violations must be reported to the police. On some areas and paths there is no or only limited winter maintenance.

Consideration

Every visitor has the right to a carefree stay. We ask all guests to show consideration and not to disturb or endanger other people - we must report any violations as trespassing.

Fires and barbecues

The burning of open fires (including barbecues and pyrotechnics) is not permitted.

Dogs

Four-legged friends are welcome at the World Heritage Site and are allowed in the open spaces. Please keep your dog on a short lead. Please help us to keep the World Heritage Site clean by removing any droppings. Please note that animals are not allowed in all buildings, as some of them are museum and exhibition rooms. Assistance dogs are of course excluded.

Roads and road traffic regulations (StVO)

Driving on the premises is only permitted on the developed roads. The speed limit on public roads (Fritz-Schupp-Allee, Martin-Kremmer-Straße, Bullmannaue, Im Welterbe and Kokereiallee) is 30 km/h. Walking speed applies on all other paths. Please be aware of pedestrians, cyclists and children and drive carefully. The provisions of the StVO apply.

Restrictions during events

During certain events, the Zollverein Foundation reserves the right to restrict access to the site in terms of time and space. We ask you to observe the daily updated information.

Parking lots

Please only use the designated parking spaces A1, A2, B and C as well as the Zollverein parking deck, which is subject to a charge. Cars parked incorrectly will have to be removed for a fee in order to ensure access for the fire department and emergency services at all times.

Motorhomes, tents etc.

Camping and overnight stays in motorhomes, camper vans, tents etc. are not permitted anywhere on the site. Information on motorhome sites in the surrounding area can be found at www.zollverein.de/anfahrt.

Guided tours

Guided tours of the site are organized and conducted exclusively by the Zollverein Foundation. If you would like to take part in a guided tour, please contact the Zollverein Monument Trail Visitor Service at besucherdienst@zollverein.de or Tel 0201 246810.

Photo, sound and film recordings

Photography, sound and film recordings that are not exclusively for private use require written permission from the Zollverein Foundation. Please send your requests to filmfoto.genehmigung@zollverein.de.

We thank you for your understanding and wish all guests a pleasant stay at the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Yours,

Zollverein Foundation
